A shift towards bespoke and statement flooring

‘AS specifiers look to champion and push more boundaries when it comes to floor design, there has been a notable shift towards bespoke and statement flooring concepts,’ explains Fleur Carson, commercial sales director of Karndean Designflooring.

She said: ‘In particular, we have seen this change in the hotel and hospitality sector where designers are looking to achieve the wow factor and engage audiences with a striking and memorable experience. As the industry prepares to make a welcome return post pandemic, we feel there’s no excuse needed for looking to make bold statements as long as the connection with the user is the right one.

‘It’s important to be clear that not all bespoke designs need to be created using made to order products. Having the flexibility of designs, formats and laying patterns to choose from will organically inspire creative floor design.

‘Moxhull Hall Hotel is a great example of this with its dramatic floor design that looks equally amazing at any time of the day or night. The geometric tiles from our Kaleidoscope collection have been laid in subtle tones of grey to cleverly coordinate with the monochrome wall mural, adding interest without competing for attention.’

Kaleidoscope by Karndean Designflooring offers a collection of wood, stone and block colours available in eight geometric designs including Cubix, Pennon and Apex. The Kaleidoscope palette of wood, stone and solid colours can be cut in several popular shapes and patterns, offering the design community unparalleled flexibility at the point of specification.

‘The collection also includes two geometric designs inspired by traditional Moroccan and medieval Spanish architecture. The eye-catching patterned tiles, Casablanca and Marrakesh, are inspired by the artistic techniques of traditional Moroccan architecture, brought to the Iberian Peninsula during the 8th century.’
